Firmness is not just about the skin surface. It comes from the scaffolding under the skin: collagen, elastin, fat pads, ligaments, and bone structure all contributing to how lifted or supported the face looks. When those supports change, the skin can look softer, less bouncy, or more lax. This can be gradual with age or suddenly obvious after rapid weight loss. Collagen gives skin strength. Elastin gives it stretch and recoil. With time, UV exposure, inflammation, and hormonal shifts, both become less robust. Add facial fat loss or overall weight changes, and the skin may have less structure to sit on. That is why someone can have good skincare and still feel their face looks less firm - the issue is not always on the surface. Topicals can support collagen quality and barrier function, but true laxity is not usually solved by a cream. Energy devices, microneedling, lasers, biostimulators, or surgery may enter the conversation depending on severity. The honest version: skincare helps maintain and support; procedures may be needed for visible lifting; and some changes are structural, not a serum deficiency.

Find Your Cause

Not every cause is treated the same way — find the one that matches you.

Collagen decline

Less collagen means weaker structural support in the dermis.

Elastin damage

Damaged elastin reduces the skin’s ability to bounce back after stretching.

Rapid weight loss

Reduced volume underneath the skin can make laxity more visible.

UV exposure

UV speeds collagen and elastin degradation over time.

Hormonal ageing

Lower estrogen signalling is associated with changes in collagen, hydration, and thickness."

Not For Me

Stem Cell Therapy

Evidence: Emerging
Research-Only

Personal cost: not applicable — Moxie has not tried it. Published stem cell treatments vary hugely by product type, delivery route (topical, injected or IV) and clinic, so a single AED figure would be misleading. Get a written, itemized quote from the clinic before booking rather than relying on a published estimate.

Cannot honestly rate this as one treatment — the product and delivery route vary too much.
