The Story
At my heaviest, I was carrying a lot more weight than felt right for my body. And I knew it.
What followed wasn't a healthy journey — it was an obsession. I cut almost everything out. Eggs became a food group. I eliminated anything my body flagged as an intolerance, and there were many. I over-exercised in ways that weren't sustainable, weren't smart, and weren't kind. But the weight came off.
Then my skin fell apart.
The breakouts started first. Then the pigmentation — dark patches that mapped every blemish like a permanent record. My texture changed. My barrier felt compromised. I looked in the mirror and didn't recognise what I was looking at.
So I did what anyone does. I went online. And that was the second mistake.
Social media is a machine built to confuse you. One dermatologist's advice contradicts the next. Plenty of influencers are sponsored by something. Comment sections turn into a war between people swearing by completely opposite things. I bought products because of a viral video. I booked treatments because someone called them life-changing. I spent thousands. Some things helped a little. Some made things worse. One treatment left me more damaged than before I walked in.
The problem isn't that information doesn't exist. It's that there's too much of it, most of it is incentivised, and none of it accounts for the specific, complicated skin that comes from putting your body through something extreme.
I spent years untangling it. Researching ingredients properly. Understanding what my skin actually needed at each stage of recovery. Figuring out which treatments were worth the money and which clinics actually knew what they were doing. Slowly, it started to work.
The Moxie Edit is what I needed and couldn't find — one place, no agenda, no brand loyalty, just an honest audit of what works and what doesn't, built by someone who's been through it and spent the money so you don't have to. But I also know my experience is one. Yours might look completely different — different skin, different body, different starting point. That's exactly why this isn't just my audit. Most pages have space for you to share what worked, what didn't, and what you wish someone had told you. The more experiences we collect, the more honest this guide becomes.
As for brands and clinics — yes, some will partner with us. Every ingredient, treatment and clinic here is labelled either Editor Tried or Research-Only — being listed is not an endorsement, and sponsorship never changes a verdict.
What We Are
The Moxie Edit is a knowledge platform, not a shop. Every ingredient, treatment, and product entry is researched and given a clear verdict — Love It, Not For Me, Worth Exploring, or Approach With Caution.
No algorithm decides what you see. No ranking is paid for. If something is sponsored, it says so — loudly. The editorial position is always ours.
Who This Is For
You lost weight fast, or restricted for a long time, and your skin didn't recover the way you expected. You're dealing with PIH, acne, rosacea, texture changes, a compromised barrier — or some combination of all of it.
You've tried things. Some worked, many didn't. You're tired of being sold to and you just want to know what actually moves the needle.
That's exactly who we built this for.
How We Make Money
No page of editorial content — a verdict, an ingredient, a treatment, a concern — is ever paywalled. That's core to how this platform is built, not a limited-time promise. What supports this platform is a mix of things, all disclosed where they appear:
“Everything sponsored is labeled. Verdicts are never for sale.”
We only list clinics we'd personally return to. If a clinic isn't listed here, it may simply mean we haven't reviewed or onboarded it yet — not a judgement on it.
Common Questions
Sometimes, yes. When it is, it’s labeled clearly — “Paid Partnership” or “Sponsored” — right where it appears, not just buried in a footer. Nothing here is dressed up as an independent verdict when it isn’t one. If we haven’t personally tried something, the page says so.
The Moxie Edit isn’t run by a dermatologist, and we don’t pretend otherwise. Every entry is built on cited research and real personal experience — not a borrowed medical credential. Not medical advice. Content is based on personal experience and published research. Always consult a qualified dermatologist before starting any new treatment or regimen.
Mostly, yes. The ingredient and concern research holds wherever you are — evidence doesn’t change by country. Clinic recommendations and treatment cost ranges are Dubai/MENA-specific for now, since that’s where the experience comes from. That coverage will grow as the platform does.
Because the receipts are here, not a bio. Every verdict is built the same way, every time: an Evidence Grade based on what the published research actually shows, an Editor’s Verdict based on real personal testing where it exists, and a Member Score kept separate from both. Sources are cited, evidence-grade and editor-tried status are always shown side by side (never blended into one score), and pricing is either a dated personal cost or a dated verified market range — never invented. You can check every claim yourself. The name behind it matters less than whether the information holds up.
Tell us and we’ll fix it. Evidence changes, prices change, and mistakes happen. Email themoxieedit@gmail.com with a link to the page and what looks wrong — we review every correction request and update the page if it’s warranted, no argument required for genuine errors.
