Moxie Notes

From Moxie

I did Clear + Brilliant in 2024 on my full face and neck because I wanted to improve pores, dullness and that dead-skin layer feeling. It was amazing once I got through the downtime. You come out with genuinely fresh, baby-looking skin.

But you need to plan for it properly: avoid the sun like it is the plague, sit at home if needed, and do not underestimate the healing stage because it does not look pretty for a while. I would do it again, but as an annual resurfacing moment, not every month.

Start Here

First, try this if

Dullness, light texture and early pores. People wanting resurfacing with less aggression than CO2. Patients who can avoid sun during recovery. Fitzpatrick III-VI only with an experienced laser provider and conservative settings.

Don't expect

Results build gradually, not overnight — realistic timeline is Moxie saw very fresh skin after downtime.

What It Is

Clear + Brilliant is a gentle fractional laser system used for general skin resurfacing and soft-tissue coagulation. It is often positioned as a lighter resurfacing option for dullness, pores, early texture and fine lines.

It does not work like a peel, but the end goal overlaps: remove dullness and bring fresher-looking skin forward. Moxie covers it because it gave her one of those clear 'baby skin after recovery' results.

How It Works

The laser creates microscopic treatment zones in the skin while leaving surrounding tissue intact. This fractional pattern allows the skin to heal in a controlled way and supports renewal. The result is not a facelift and not a pigment cure.

It is better understood as skin polishing: improving tone, texture and surface quality when aftercare is done properly.

The Evidence

Evidence: Emerging
GradeC — Emerging evidence

Concerns Addressed

Dullness/Uneven Tone, Fine Lines & Wrinkles, Rough Texture, Enlarged Pores - via fractional resurfacing that supports controlled skin renewal.

The Clear + Brilliant system is FDA-indicated for dermatological procedures requiring coagulation of soft tissue and general skin resurfacing (a regulatory clearance, not a grade of clinical evidence strength). The evidence supports resurfacing and texture improvement, while results still depend on settings, skin tone and aftercare.

Source

Clear + Brilliant (low-fluence fractional 1440nm/1927nm laser) has clinical support mainly from smaller prospective studies and manufacturer-affiliated trials showing improved texture/tone with low downtime; independent large-scale RCTs comparing it against standard fractional lasers are limited.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Dullness, light texture and early pores. People wanting resurfacing with less aggression than CO2. Patients who can avoid sun during recovery. Fitzpatrick III-VI only with an experienced laser provider and conservative settings.

Caution or Avoid

Active tan or planned sun exposure. Poor barrier or active irritation. Unrealistic expectations of deep scar correction. Anyone unable to commit to aftercare.

What to Expect

Step 1 - Consultation: Skin tone, pigment risk and settings are selected. Step 2 - Numbing: Numbing cream is commonly used. Step 3 - The procedure: The laser is passed over face/neck in controlled passes. Step 4 - Immediately after: Redness, roughness, bronzing and peeling-like texture can happen.

Avoid sun as if it is non-negotiable. Step 5 - Timeline and maintenance: Fresh skin appears after healing. Moxie sees yearly use as reasonable, either this or a peel.

Cost Breakdown

Personal cost: about AED 8,000 for one full face + neck session. Full course: not applicable to Moxie's use — clinics may recommend a series. Maintenance: not a fixed routine for Moxie — at most once a year, if at all.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much downtime does Clear + Brilliant require?

Meaningful recovery time is involved — expect redness, roughness, bronzing and peeling-like texture, plus strict sun avoidance during healing. Moxie describes the downtime as worth planning around properly rather than something to fit into a busy week.

How often should you get Clear + Brilliant?

Moxie treats it as an annual resurfacing treatment rather than a frequent one, based on her own use.

Can Clear + Brilliant fix deep scars or wrinkles?

No — it's a gentle resurfacing laser aimed at dullness, texture and fine lines, not a substitute for deeper resurfacing when the concern is significant scarring or deep wrinkles.

The Verdict

The downtime pays off.
